Senanayakians brought laurels to the College by bagging the first place with the timing of 2:03:45.  at the   4 x50m  Invitation medley relay  for the Presidents Challenge Trophy, organised by the Aquatic Sports Club of Thurstan College  held at the Thurstan College Swimming pool last Sunday,04^th October 2009.

The team comprised  of Heshan Hewawasam, Jeshan Charithra,Jehan Hannan and Harith Maduwantha.

It is with immense pride that we pen these words that the college aquatic team who participated at the national swimming meet which took place at the Sugathadasa Stadium Aquatic Complex which concluded recently, made history in the books of swimming records.

The results were as follows :  

Between the 09th - 11th July Imesh Chathuranga emerged champion in the  Under 12 Age category : His achievements were :

* 1st place in the 50m Butterfly stroke event,he swam in 33.45 seconds, setting a new national age category record.

* 1st place in the 50m Back Stroke event, he swam in 35.94 seconds again setting a new national age category record.

* 1st place in the 50m Free Style event, he swam in 30.75 seconds once again setting a national age category record.

* 1st place in the 100m Free Style event which he completed in a minute and 49.15 seconds.

Also,

* Harith Maduwantha emerged 3rd place in the 50m Back Stroke event and Jehan Hannan finished 3rd in the 200m Free Style event while Jashan Charithra Silva emerged 3rd place in the 50m Free Style event.

DS budding Swimmer - Imesh Chathuranga has concord swimming arena with marvellous performance at the pentathlon swimming Champion ship held at Sugathadasa Swimming pool in Colombo His outstanding performance was incomparable with the other land mark performers in the swimming field. Among the so called swimming expertise, Unambuwa (Srilankas number one swimmer –Trinition ), Imesh Chaturanga came with flying colours performing equally well or better than the others , by establishing a new age group record in the U/12 category. He clocked 36 .19 seconds to erase Unambuwas record in the U/12 back stroke event.

Chathuranga has started his swimming career at his schools grade 1 and responded to Sunday Island Sports Star reporter on 24^th of May 2009 that his most anticipated dream is to represent Sri Lanka in Olympics one day.

Annual Inter House Swimminmg Meet 2009 of D.S.Senanayake College , held on the 21st of February is one of the glamorous events among other  co curricular activities which always paves the venue  for the talented and the amateurs  to display their swimming skills keeping abreast with the other comrades from  the  four houses  Sura, Weera, Mettha & Shantha

This  great event was graced by the distinguished guests . The conclusion made an unforgettable memory for both  swimmers and the spectators

Our school swimming squad  emerged champions at the R.M.P. De Silva Memorial All Island age group Swimming Championship 2008 held by the Sports Council of the old boys Association - Dharmasoka College - Ambalangoda which was held on the 20th and 21st of December 2008.
