My life after school (so far)
I left DSSC in 1978 just after learning to read and write. No...just kidding, not really- though truthfully, looking back at my life I can proudly say that I have truly been through it all. From playing with friends and cars, to traveling and studying, to girls and marriage, and finally to work and raising children, it has been an amazing ride from which I have no regrets. I began trade school the same year I left DSS and finished it in 1981. After a couple of years as a junior construction executive in Colombo, I realized my desire for a higher education and left Sri Lanka to study in Bergen, Norway. While completing my studies, I met my future wife Sitara and was soon married, then graduating with my teaching credentials in 1991. After teaching in Norway for a short time, we relocated in 1996 to the Los Angeles, California for graduate studies. In the 14 years we have spent since arriving in the legendary City of Angels, we have watched both our family and careers prosper, my wife pursuing genetic research and myself in Special Education. We were blessed with millennium babies, twin boys. Although I chose not to do my homework back in the days at DSS, it is the opposite now as I watch my boys grow and learn in school. Finally, I am learning the truth behind parenting. Now it is almost time to start thinking about retirement..... Moreover, through it all I thank my family, parents and siblings for always being there for me and my DSS friends for over forty years of friendship.
