It was a joyous moment for all the staff members (academic and non-academic), pupils and well wishers to heed the great news of conferring the principal of our Alma mater the charter of " Desha Shakthi, Samaja Subasadaka (Socialwelfare), Lankathilaka, Adyapanawedi (Bachelor of Education), Desha Manya  together with a doctorate " by the Sarasavi Institute of National Awarding and graduation (Jathika Sarasavi Sammana Upadhi Ayathanaya) for the efficiency, excellent service, talents and ethics .

It is so unique to note he is well deserved for this distinguished charter as he is the greatest pioneer behind the speedy progress of the college in a very short span of tenure. As a local and International experienced counselor, he has guided the school to numerous curricular and co-curricular activities keeping abreast with other central, national, International (locally based) and overseas schools especially in the quiz programmes (International Convention on Quality Control Circle held in Istanbul, Turkey) and his renowned exposure to the United Kingdom at the invitation of  the British Council as a part of the Dreams and Teams Young Leader Programme, as the head of the school, also representing ASFF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING - ASFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY held in Bangkok Thailand together with other local achievements for which the International and local experience always makes him to depict the inborn and achieved talents of the D.S. sons.  All these academic activities were always scrutinized personally by him to bring glory to the school and the Island. Very recent achievements like Best Environment Friendly School of the year, 2008 and Best Annual Report & Accounts Competition of National Schools - 2008 are the achievements of his excellent guidance.

In the social service sector renovating Rotawewa National school, developing the junior cricket team of Walipathayaya Junior school, building a house for a needy family in Galle area providing a bicycle to a disabled child in Kurunegala to make him a school going child, providing forty bicycles to a temple in Walioya as a solution to alleviate the transportation problem of the temple and the community, renovating three schools in flood prone Ratnapura area together with Rs.300,000/= worth dryrations. Most exceptionally the first state school team to provide relief to Tsunami affected areas with all these making annual alms-giving to the cancer hospital Maharagama a great meritorious event. All these events are the brain child of this great personality Deshamanya Dr.Asoka Senani Hewage whose worthy perspective is always giving a helping hand to the Have nots by the Haves displaying the generosity of this school inculcated by the principal.

His great sensitivity and the empathy towards the fellowmen was rightly depicted by leading the D.S. sons to share the moment of grief and despair by leading D.S. sons to give a helping hands to families whose members became victims to the pettah railway station bomb blast together with the beloved D.S. sons.

Currently he is the president of Sri Lanka Educational Administrative service, President of School Cricket Association, Vice President of School Football association and the School Squash Association.
