The National festival for the fallen heroes, commemorated at the heroes monuments of D.S.Senanayake College in a grand way this morning with the distinguished participation of Honourable Minister of Education, Mr.Susil Premajayantha and the guest of Honour Col. Rajakaruna, a great alumnus of D.S.Senanayke College. This great event marked the liberation of our motherland from the clutches and ruthless butcher Velupillai Prabhakaran, ending the 30 year old cold blooded civil war which perished the entire nation irrespective of the class and the creed. The whole nation is in elated and jubilant mood with this historic victory which is to rewrite the Sri Lankan history as our dear Principal, Dr. Asoka Senani Hewage highlighted in his speech. He further said and wished there wouldn't be need to write another name as 33, numbering the fallen heroes on the heroes monument in the school premises.

Also he emphasized heavy weapons like multi barrels, armoured cars, artillery guns, fighter jets like Kaafirs, Migs , and battle ships with other naval combat crafts will be used only for display at the national festival and so on here after, praising valour and martyrdom of our brave soldiers in all the forces.

It was note worthy that the Principal kindly invited the influx of intelligenzia to the Island, who left the country due to this barbaric war, since our motherland has become a forecourt for all the local and foreign investors to make their investments lavishly and all the Sri Lankans breath the air of carefreeness after we gained political freedom in 1948 from the Britishers. Finally, he greatly appreciated the unblemished leadership of Honourable President, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha for the commitment, great dedication and the perseverance to end up this war.

Honourable Minister of Education, Mr.Susil Premajayantha, in his address highlighted the patriotism of our armed forces and further said to the whole nation, that all Sri Lankans here after can live in a freed nation without fear. We salute and thank our Honourable Minister for visiting D.S.Senanayke College to mark this great event.

The function ended up with the floral tribute to the fallen heroes and the D.S. sons, became victims of war sometimes ago.

We, Senanayakians salute you, Martyrs .......................!
