D.S.Senanayake College, always  volunteers to be right behind the needy has this time paved its way to give a helping hand to Kuda Gampaha Primary School in  Thissamaharamaya .

This primary school had only 2 permanent buildings  but they were not sufficient to house the increasing number of pupils annually. So the teachers and the parents had no option other than  making  a thatched  hut to house the students. It  gravely hampered  educational activities during the bad weather. Sometimes it became muddy at the other dusty. Several attempts were made to take this matter even to the President,  with the photograhs of the prevailing structure.  but they didnt reach the President.  Luckily Divaina Reporter of Kataragama made a visit to this shcool and as a result  this was noticed by Principal of D.S.Senanayake College  Dr. Ashoka Senani Hewage whose prompt impression was to provide a permanent building to this  school instead of this thatched structure.

With several rounds of talks together with the school Development Society and the Old Boys Association, he visited  Kuda Gampaha Primary school several times. Then the foundation stone was laid for this great task . With the manpower of the villagers together with the financial help of benevolent Senanayakians the building made another dream  to come true for the innocent villagers and the pupils . D.S.Senanayake College had incurred Rs. 2.2 million  for this invaluable matter.

Finally,  this was opened recently with the participation of Mrs. Chandra Rajapakshe , wife of honourable Minister of Ports Aviation and Irrigation and Water Management Mr. Chamal Rajapakshe, Dr Ashoka Senanai Hewage the Principal of D. S. Senanayake College and Mr. Mahanama Jayawardhana Principal of Kuda Gampaha Primary School.

D.S. being  a school of  high financial calibre with the right assistance of the resplendent Old Boys could have used this Rs 2.2 million for the thriving of the College itself . But this great social task shows the generocity and the benevolence of them . This is not the first time D.S. has come forward to engage in such social events, throughout the yester years it has engaged in such social activities especially in then Border Villages and also DS Principals next move is to grant a school building to a cleared area school.
