Pasindu Jayawickrama, The president and the Captain of D.S.S.C Wushu Association and the School Wushu Team left the Senanayakins and the whole Island gruesome and woeful reminiscences in the sorrow stricken hearts.
This awful tragedy occurred at the All Island School Wushu Competition held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on 02nd of May on 2009. Pasindu faced the 1st round very successfully but he got this fatal shot on his head in the 2nd rounds and was dismissed from the game in the 3rd rounds.
Then he was rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital and thereafter to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka where Medical Team did their best, according to the Hospital sources the parents and our principal Dr. Asoka Senani Hewage were pleading behind the Medical officers to save his life, in the life struggling surgery, Pasindu underwent. But Pasindu whose dream was to be an Engineer someday being a brilliant students of A/L Maths stream and very clever swimmer and Hockey Player succumbed to his injuries a couple of days after this tragedy sinking his beloved parents, brother sister, Senanayakians and the whole Island in a deep sorrow.
His unblemished rare traits are that his parents never knew that he was the Captain of School Wushu Team and also his friend’s testimony is that he never used a “WUSHU SHOT” against his friends even for a joke.
But this rare character leaves us only rare qualities today, raising some questions at the Authorities concerned.
Why you authorities concerned didn’t get the services of experienced referees to judge?
- Why you didn’t stop the match at the correct time of first bad shot, hit?
- Why, like me other two players were hospitalized if the game played according to the techniques.
- Why there were no doctors to attend, when an official game was organized like this.
- Why the organizers hadn’t arranged to get the service of an Ambulance to rush the injured to hospital.
Dear son, Friend Pasindu
~~~~~~Life goes on, but you are gone,
Parted, never to return
The pain is still so fresh in our hearts,
A deep wound never to be healed ~~~~~~
Affectionately remembered with immense gratitude, pride and undying loves for your great valour by the principal Dr. Asoka Senani Hewage, the teachers and your colleagues.
May you attain supreme Nibbana !!!
