Arunalu 2009 - Art festival of the primary school students, staged for the ninth consecutive year on 19th 20th of October 2009, is a treasure trove which set the ball of music and dancing rolling , making a rationale and a forecourt for the fledging DS sons to be unearthed and brought their distinctive musicality .

The term “ Arunalu” itself is embedded in the minds of the sons in the Primary School, who are eagerly awaiting for the staging of this grand purely contemporary and figurative momentum of the creative dialogue of the budding sons, annually depict their aesthetic heritage . The same makes a thought provoking atmosphere to the extent that how closer our culture , heritage and history when it is in interaction with the multilingual and multi religious student community of D.S Senanayake College which is always a trend setter to the schools in the island .

This impressive platform – Arunalu is an echoed sentiment of the present Principal Dr Ashoka Senani Hewage whose sole motivation is to create a well balanced student together with an aesthetic appreciation , finally fond of nature and the nation. The great commitment of the Primary school Principal Mrs Nishanthi Amarasuriya, dedicated teachers in the Primary Section , co-operative and supportive oriented parents, being the grand pillars behind this , not withstanding their personal agendas is highly praised worthy and acknowledged.
